A most unique tea, with a tangy sweet aroma and taste, which is somewhat reminiscent of a good GABA oolong, it has a tangy sweet taste of sweet potato and apricot followed by a gentle lingering sourness in the mouth.
This is the top grade of dark tea and the most expensive tea Bohyang produce, using traditional Korean methods which have largely disappeared. Gimhye Kim brought her family's traditional dark tea making technique to Bohyang tea in 1937 when she married into the Choi family.
This is a rare example of a Balhyocha which has undergone both oxidisation and fermentation, hence my categorising as a dark tea.
