A lovely Korean tea with a lovely combination of gentle sweet notes of plum and apricot combined with a slight tangy finish.
The producer has this to say of Korean Hwangcha (Yellow Tea):
Bohyang yellow tea is produced under the responsibility of Mrs. Choi Seung-seon, One of the three successors of Bohyang Tea Company
Through a process called "Minhwang," it acquires a mild taste and aroma that falls between green tea and black tea.
It is a type of tea that harmonizes well with the characteristics of the native Korean leaf tea tree, a deciduous species.
Minhwang is the extra tea processing step which transforms green tea into yellow which involves wrapping the tea and placing it into a wooden box, with the heat and humidity causing non-enzymatic oxidisation to occur, causing the tea to shift in colour from green to yellow.
